For this article I chose the discussion post from C&T 842: Supporting Striving Readers: Adolescents to Adults. In this article, I demonstrate what I learned about a particular student named Otisina. It is a brief reflection, but this discussion post mentions what I learned about the process of evaluation, the assessment of student literacy levels, and a cause for Otinsia’s low literacy level. I also give suggestions to help improve her literacy level that can be used at school and/or home. I evaluate her learning conditions and her habits to determine where we can improve her learning. I also address how to discuss this with her parents in a professional and caring way so that they are on board with the program and do not feel attacked or accused, which can happen if the wrong words are used.

Use multiple measures and create a supportive learning environment that contributes to an expected level of P12 student-learning growth. CAEP 1.6, 3.5
My second artifact, M:6 Media Analysis Project Presentation, comes from C&T807: Multicultural Education. This artifact is a group response to a case study. We were asked to develop a plan that would assist English Language Learners, ELL, students who are often overlooked due to their race or ethnicity. For this assignment, we discuss the state and demography of ELLs in schools, then show how to support and implement strategies into the classroom to better assist ELL students. Lastly, we pose challenges teachers may face and extra support that may be needed to make sure their program is successful.
I chose this artifact because it suggests to appropriately place ELL students in a program and give them support where it is needed by scaffolding, making the content visual, and allowing students to use their native language. This presentation also given easily adjustable classroom strategies for teachers to use on a daily bases to improve the learning of these students.
