The first artifact is the QRI Summary artifact which comes from C&T 842: Supporting Striving Readers: Adolescent through Adult. In this course, we studied various and common struggles experienced by readers and writers. The big picture with this course is to ensure struggling literacy learners are college and career ready, which is why I selected this artifact. To show relationship to the standard, I used the book tasting process that you will see mentioned in my artifact with my new 4th grade students on the second day of school and gave them free reign over my library to collect data of book interests and write titles and authors of texts they can refer to throughout the year. This began the year with a supportive learning environment to allow students to explore a vast amount of ideas and opinions through the amount of reading content that has been flooding the classroom.
Throughout this artifact, you will see a profile of my tutee and intervention strategies. You will see a reference list of books at the end that are used for the book tasting that was completed where the student referred back to throughout the remainder of the year and checked-out these texts to continue strengthening her reading habits.
Again, one big take away this assignment gave me was the use of book tastings. The students loved getting a list they keep with them of interesting books they want to read or experience and keep track of the library using a student driven library log.
Artifact i

Demonstrate skills and commitment to creating supportive environments that afford all P-12 students access to rigorous college- and career-ready standards. CAEP 1.4
Artifact Ii
The Language and Literacy Exchange artifact comes from C&T 745: Reading and the English Language Learner. Throughout this artifact, you will see a synopsis of my student’s background, interests and grade level understanding of English. There is also a discussion of what worked well in the course with the student and did not, followed by a list of sources used with the student to enhance learning.
This particular artifact was selected because it represents a quality report on students and also demonstrate a quality amount of resources I found and still use and share with teachers today. Many of these resources have built positive classroom environments that have allowed students to grow more than academically. These resources are helpful for my students to develop skills needed after the standardized tests and to prepare them for higher education and build career ready citizens.
